Leap Day, année bissextile

Aujourd'hui nous sommes le 29 février. Alors juste un court article pour parler d'une tradition irlandaise en rapport avec ce jour qui n'arrive qu'une fois tous les 4 ans !

Le 29 février en Irlande est le jour où les demoiselles peuvent demander leur bien aimé en mariage ! On appelle ça "leap day proposal". La légende raconte que St Brigid et St Patrick se seraient mis d'accord pour qu'une fois tous les 4 ans, la règle qui veut que le prétendant demande la main de sa dulcinée soit inversée le temps d'une journée.

Ce matin en cours l'un de mes camarades a demandé où on pouvait se présenter pour éventuellement recevoir une demande en mariage, notre professeur a répondu "dans un bunker fermé à clé et ne laissez rentrer personne !".

Today is the 29th of february. So just a short article to talk about an irish tradition related with this day that happens only once every four years !

February 29 in Ireland is the day on which ladies can propose to their beloved man ! They call it "leap day proposal". The legend has it that St Brigid made a deal with St Patrick to change the rule that the man proposes to her lady-love for one day every four years.

This morning in class, one of my classmates asked where we had to go to get proposed, and the teacher answered "in a locked bunker, and don't let anybody in !"
